The Annual Mitzvah Marathon at UC
What response can someone have to the dark acts perpetrated on September 11, 2001?
Sometimes, the only reaction can be the total opposite - acts of light, acts of Goodness and Kindness that can reverberate around the world.
Join together as we mark this day with multiple "Mitzvah Stations" to give people the opportunity to bring a little more brightness into the world.
"A Little Light Can Chase Away Much Darkness" is the motto of this event. On September 11, we will aim to accumulate 500 Good Deeds that will make the world a better place.
Our tables on campus near TUC will feature a variety of easy-to-do Good Deeds that can be done on the spot. They will include universal Good Deeds as well as specifically Jewish ones, such as:
• Give a coin to charity
• Make a sandwich for the homeless
• Call your parents, grandparents, or an old friend
• Say a Prayer
• Make a "Get Well" card for a sick child
• Schedule a Blood Donation
• Buy a cookie for a friend
• Pledge to:
• Hold the door open for 10 people today
• Help your next-door neighbor today
• Help a friend with school work
• Light Shabbat candles Friday eve before 7:45pm
We'll need volunteers for running the tables and to help students Do A Deed. There will be a wall with the Pledge Slips that have been filled out, for all to see.
Email your name and contact info to [email protected] to volunteer!
